  • ‘…. rhythmically driven mood shifting music with blues and bop roots keeping an anarchic energy barely in check.’.  Cadence Magazine (2.99)

The Pink Noise Sax Quartet features several of the most inventive and highly sought after musicians of New York City’s creative music scene. Led by Tim Otto on soprano and tenor sax the group includes Michael Blake, tenor sax, Peck Allmond on alto sax and Andy Laster on bari sax.  On their latest release, The Jig is Up, altoist Briggan Krauss, bassist Dom Richards and drummer Aaron Alexander augment the quartet to form the Pink Noise Saxtet.

In performance the PNSQ features original compositions and arrangements reflecting various traditions including funk, (Box Bump); eastern folk, (Pass the Cous Cous); the blues, (Bonepipe Blues) and street marches (Fish Eats Dog). The band also covers artists such as Sun Ra and Ray Charles.

They wove themes of jazz, blues and ethnic folk melodies into
a huge sphere of sound that was always tuneful…
and left me wanting to hear them again soon.’

(Cadence Magazine concert review,11.98.)
‘…. it’s coordination produces an every breath you take urgency. It’s about pliability.’ Village Voice
